The Console Drive is by far one of the most flexible hard drive enclosure solutions in the market. It can turn a standard 3.5" IDE hard drive into an external hard drive or a removable hard drive cartridge. With the Console Drive, you can, via one standard 5.1/4" drive bay, interchange anyone of the following storage devices - 3.5" IDE hard drive, Addonics Pocket CD, DVD, CDRW, or DVD+/-R/RW device. In addition, the drive can also be used as an external device. The drive can connect to any of the following interface: USB 2.0/1.1, Firewire/iLink, CardBus/PCMCIA, Serial ATA, IDE or SCSI. The flexibility of the Console Drive enables the deployment of removable hard drives or ATAPI devices in a wide range of applications and equipment that you could ever imagine - Server application, vehicle PC, home entertainment, remote storage connection...
The Console Drive is modular, expandable and adaptable to the ever changing need in storage and interface standards. Instead of locking in a proprietary storage or one particular interface standard, the Console Drive is an enabling storage solution that provides all the necessary components to convert industrial standard IDE and ATAPI storage devices into a simple removable or external storage device. Many components of the Console drive are designed to be re-useable and interchangeable to help reduce your storage investment, cost of ownership and minimize obsolescence.

The Console Drive consists of the following basic components
· Console Cradle - Fits inside a standard 5 1/4" drive bay with a back plane that can attach to
o standard IDE interface
o SCSI interface via IDE to SCSI or ATAPI to SCSI bridge
o USB 2.0/1.1, Firewire or Serial ATA interface via Addonics USIB interface cable
· Console HD enclosure - The hard drive enclosure that turn any 3.5" IDE hard drive into an external hard drive with flexible interface connection or a removable hard drive via the Console Cradle. External interface can be USB 2.0/1.1, Firewire/iLink, CardBus/PCMCIA or Serial ATA
· Console Tray
o HDD Console Tray to enable the Console HD enclosure to be used as a removable hard drive via the Console Cradle
o DVD Console Tray to enable the Addonics Pocket CD, DVD, DVD/CDRW, DVD+/-R/RW to be used as a removable ATAPI device via the Console Cradle.
· USIB interface cables
o USB 2.0/1.1 USIB interface cable
o Firewire/iLink USIB interface cable
o CardBus/PCMCIA USIB interface cable
o External Serial ATA USIB interface cable
By combining the various components above, you can build one of the following common hard drive storage solutions:

|
Console Rack (Removable hard drive) · hot swap interface connection: USB, Firewire or Serial ATA connection (requires different optional Addonics USIB interface cables) · cold swap interface connection: IDE, SCSI |
|
|
Console ExDrive35 (External Hard Drive) · interface connection: USB 2.0/1.1, Firewire/iLink, External Serial ATA or CardBus/PCMCIA |
|
|
Console Drive USIB35 (Use one drive Internally & Externally) · Combination of both Console Rack and Console ExDrive functions. |
