The Drive Cartridge System USIB35 is designed to turn any standard 3.5" IDE hard drive into a high performance hot swap removable drive cartridge system the Drive Cartridge System USIB35 can connect externally or internally via many different interface standards - USB 2.0/1.1, Firewire/iLink or Serial ATA. There is also choice of black and ivory colour for the cartridge cradle to go with different computers and equipment. Product features:
· Fastest removable cartridge system - up to 150 MBytes/sec via Serial ATA connection
· Hot swappable
· Use any 3.5" IDE hard drive - ATA33,66,100,133
· External connection can be extended to beyond 15 feet using USB connection.
· Largest data storage capacity - determined by the size of the hard drive
· Choice of following interfaces:
o Internal connection: USB 2.0/1.1, Firewire/iLink, Serial ATA*
o External connection: USB 2.0/1.1, Firewire/iLink, Serial ATA
· Interface support: Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, XP, Mac OS X, Solaris 9 and above
(1) Serial ATA hot swap feature works only with controllers basing on Silicon Image chip set from our in-house testing. Other controllers that are not Silicon Image based may not support hot swap. You may consider adding one of the Addonics Serial ATA host controllers to your systems to ensure the hot swap capability. New controllers from Intel and other suppliers may finally correct the problem. Please verify with your controller manufacturer if you need to have hot swap feature in your application. Hot swap features is supported in Windows 2000 and XP only. On other OS, drive can be removed without crashing system. But replacing with a different drive can result in crashing the OS.
